Should I replenish calories burned through activity?

We believe our users can decide for themselves if they’d like to consume the additional calories earned through activity.

Goal: "Lose Weight"

In most cases, you can generally boost weight loss when burned calories are not replenished with food. The additional calories, however, are often helpful as a buffer for days when you’d like to eat a bit more or enjoy yourself at a barbecue or birthday party. In addition, having too large of a calorie deficit can actually slow down your weight-loss progress. You can learn more about that here.

You can choose to replenish the burned calories as a reward or use them as a “weight-loss booster”. You will also meet your weight-loss goal if you choose to replenish your burned calories.

Goal: “Gain Muscle” or “Maintain Weight”

If your goal is to “Gain Muscle” or “Maintain Weight”, you should replenish the calories you’ve burned through activity. It’s also important to consume the calories through foods rich in protein or complex carbohydrates (e.g., potatoes, oats, quinoa, or whole grain rice) and not through “empty calories” like sweets, junk food, etc.

Disable: “Include Activities”

You can choose whether you’d like the app to consider burned calories when calculating your remaining calories and nutritional values. To do so:

  1. Switch to the Profile tab account-circle__1_.png.
  2. Navigate to Settings settings.png.
  3. Select “Diary”.
  4. Choose to enable or disable “Include Activities”.

We hope that you were able to find answers to all your questions and wish you a great journey with YAZIO. Should you have any more questions, please feel free to contact our support team and submit your request here.
