What do I need to pay attention to in my diet during menopause?

Menopause is a significant phase in a woman's life, bringing numerous physical and hormonal changes. These can often lead to weight gain, bone density loss, and increased risk of heart disease. Hence, ensuring a balanced diet and regular physical activity is vital during this transition phase.

A balanced diet during menopause should emphasize the following:

  • Eating a healthy and varied diet.
  • Putting the focus on eating enough fruits and vegetables.
  • Increasing fiber intake, such as through whole grains and vegetables.
  • Increasing Calcium and Vitamin D intake.
  • Reducing the intake of sodium and salt.

Regular physical activity is equally crucial in this phase. It is advised to couple the balanced diet with being physically active for at least 150 minutes over a week, including weight-bearing activities on two or more days of the week.
