Should I replenish calories burned through activity?

We believe you can decide for yourself, depending on your goal, if you’d like to consume the additional calories earned through activity.

Goal: "Lose Weight"

Maintaining a balanced approach to weight loss is essential. While it's true that consuming fewer calories than you burn can contribute to weight loss, it's important to keep in mind that our bodies need a certain amount of fuel to function correctly. Burning additional calories can provide a buffer for times when you want to eat a little more, and it can also prevent your weight loss from plateauing. You can learn more about this here.

Remember that it's okay to enjoy food and replenish your body with the necessary nutrients it needs to stay healthy. If you maintain a healthy balance, you can still achieve your weight loss goals.

Goal: “Gain Muscle” or “Maintain Weight”

If your goal is to "Gain Muscle" or "Maintain Weight," it's important to replenish the calories you've burned through activity with nutrient-dense foods. Consuming foods that are high in protein, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats can help support muscle growth and maintenance while also providing your body with the energy it needs to function correctly. Examples of these types of foods include potatoes, oats, quinoa, whole grain rice, lean meats, fish, nuts, and seeds.

It's also important to be mindful of the overall quality of your diet and to aim for a variety of healthy foods that can provide your body with a range of essential nutrients. By prioritizing a balanced and nutrient-rich diet versus foods that are high in calories but low in nutrients, you can support your fitness goals and promote overall health and well-being.

Disable: “Include Activities”

You can choose whether you’d like the app to consider burned calories when calculating your remaining calories and nutritional values. To do so:

  1. Switch to the Profile tab account-circle__1_.png.
  2. Navigate to Settings settings.png.
  3. Select “Diary & Water Tracker".
  4. Choose to enable or disable “Include Activities in Calorie Goal”.

We hope that you were able to find answers to all your questions and wish you a great journey with YAZIO.
