How does the food/product search work within YAZIO?

Our food search and the results are based on several factors, which you can actively or passively influence and adjust when using our YAZIO app. The first, and most crucial factor, is the food database, which you can select or change in the app settings under the option “Food Database Country”. In addition, you will also be asked which country you are currently shopping in during the product search. This selection also has an influence on your displayed results.

If a selected region does not have its own food database, the search results will be based on the following criteria:

  • For Android:
    • Device location
    • Country/location of the mobile network
    • Country stored in the device settings
    • Country for the Sim-card
    • Installed languages on the device
  • For iOS:
    • Installed languages on the device
    • Currency selected in the App Store

Unfortunately, we do not currently offer specific or explicit food databases for all countries or regions available for selection in the “Food Database Country”.

If a food search does not provide enough results, another search is triggered in a fallback database for the languages spoken in the country. For example, a search may produce multilingual results for one food product.

However, if this also fails to produce any results, an English-language product will be displayed.

Please note: Additionally, your own created meals or recipes, your stored favorites, and frequently consumed foods are also taken into account. These are always displayed in priority.

We hope that you were able to find answers to all your questions and wish you a great journey with YAZIO. Should you have any more questions, please feel free to contact our support team and submit your request here.
