How many calories can I eat if I want to lose weight?

Your calorie goal is calculated using a formula that takes into account your height, weight, gender, and age. Depending on whether you want to lose, gain, or maintain your weight, we calculate a calorie reduction or increase for your calorie goal. A difference in plus or minus 500 kcal per day usually leads to a gain or loss of 0.5 kilograms per week.

You should always cover your basal metabolic rate in your daily diet. If you are below your basal metabolic rate for a longer period of time, your body will break down its own muscles to compensate for the energy deficit. This often happens through strict and one-sided diets or fasting cures. In addition, if your calorie intake is below your basal metabolic rate, your body might not receive enough vitamins and minerals. An undersupply of nutrients can have a negative effect on many metabolic functions and your immune system. The calorie goal calculated by YAZIO is never below the basal metabolic rate of your goal weight.

Even though your energy requirement can be determined quite accurately with the help of the formula, our body is not a machine. Every metabolism is slightly different and every body reacts differently to the intake of food. Therefore, you should always see our calculation only as a recommendation. Make sure that you are comfortable with your calorie goal and that you are getting closer to your desired goal. If not, you can change your calorie goal in the app settings at any time and adjust it individually.

We hope that you were able to find answers to all your questions and wish you a great journey with YAZIO. Should you have any more questions, please feel free to contact our support team and submit your request here.
