Your calorie goal in Yazio is designed to support your personal goal, whether that’s building habits, managing your weight, or maintaining balance. “Remaining” calories help you understand how your day is shaping up, without pressure. 💚
Do I have to stick to my calorie goal?
Yazio calculates a daily calorie goal based on your overall goal. This goal already includes the calorie deficit or surplus needed, so you don’t need to do any extra calculations.
- You’ll get the best results by staying close to your calorie goal
- Going a little over or under from time to time is completely okay
- There’s no need to be perfect; consistency matters more than precision
What are “remaining” calories?
At the top center of your Diary, you’ll see your remaining calories. This number updates throughout the day as you log meals and activities.
- Logged foods are subtracted from your remaining calories
- Logged activities can increase your remaining calories, as they raise your energy needs
- You can decide if you want to consume the additional calories earned through activities
Your Diary is there to guide you, not to limit you. 😌
What if I don’t use all my remaining calories?
This depends on your goal and how many calories are left at the end of the day.
- Being far below your calorie goal for longer periods can make it harder for your body to function
- As a general guideline, try not to stay more than 200–300 kcal below your target
- Consistently eating too little can affect energy levels and muscle maintenance
💡 In general, you shouldn’t stay below 1000 kcal for several days in a row, as your body may not get enough nutrients to support daily functions. If you’re unsure what feels right for you, listening to your body and aiming for balance is key.
