Error 412 can appear when you try to add a new food item with a barcode that already exists in the Yazio database. 🤓

Why can’t I edit the existing entry?

Some public food entries can’t be edited. This helps protect the quality of shared food data, but we know it can be frustrating when an entry is incorrect or inaccessible.

What can I do?

Try creating the food item again without adding the barcode. This avoids the duplicate-barcode error, and your new entry will still be available through text search.

Is Yazio working on this?

Yes. We’re aware of this limitation and are looking into ways to make food entries easier to correct in the future. 💚
