In Yazio, you can save food in two different ways, as a meal or as a recipe. Both help you track what you eat, they’re just made for slightly different moments 😊
What is a meal?
A meal is a quick way to save foods you usually eat together and want to add to your Diary as one entry.
- You can combine foods you often have together, like coffee with a splash of milk or bread with jam
- You add the whole combination to your Diary in one step
- Each meal always counts as one serving
If you only want part of a saved meal, open it and select just the foods you want to add.
Meals are great when you want to keep things simple and move on with your day ✨

What is a recipe?
A recipe is more flexible and works best when you want to be more precise.
- You can define multiple servings
- You can enter preparation steps for your own reference
- You can add the recipe to your Diary by servings or by weight in grams
- You can edit the recipe later if something didn’t turn out quite right
Recipes always include multiple portions, and you decide how much you want to log.
Which option should I use?
Both options support mindful, stress-free tracking, it just depends on what you need in the moment.
- Use meals when you want to log food quickly, without extra details
- Use recipes when you want more accuracy, especially by entering exact weights
There’s no better or worse choice here, just the one that fits your routine and feels right for you 🌱
