Syncing Google Fit with Health Connect

Why is it necessary?

Google will discontinue the Google Fit API, which means Yazio will no longer be able to sync your activities from Google Fit directly. But don’t worry, you can still track your activities! Simply connect Google Fit to Health Connect and update your settings in Yazio. We’ll walk you through the steps below.

Set up the synchronization

  1. Download the Health Connect app.
    • Some devices may have the Health Connect app already installed.
  2. Download the Google Fit app.
    • Ensure you’ve already installed the Google Fit app on your device.
  3. Set up sync between Google Fit and Health Connect.
    • Open the Google Fit app, go to the Profile tab > Settings (gear icon in the top right corner) and activate Sync Fit with Health Connect.
    • Make sure you follow the process until you see the connection confirmation on your screen. ✔️
  4. Connect Yazio and Health Connect.
    • Open the Yazio app, go to the Profile tab and tap on Health Connect in the section Automatic Tracking.
    • Ensure to grant all permissions by tapping on Allow all to enable automatic data transfer between Yazio and Health Connect.
    • Tap on the Allow button on the bottom right of the screen to confirm the action.
  5. Check the connections between Yazio, Health Connect and Google Fit.
    • If the connection is successful, the Health Connect icon will show a checkmark under Automatic Tracking on the Yazio Profile tab.
    • In the Health Connect app, go to App permissions and ensure Fit and Yazio are in the section Allowed access. If not, tap on each of them and activate the switch for Allow all.
